New Antenna Switch Board Layout

antenna switch board layout

All the pieces are in place with my new antenna switch board layout. Now to get the wiring done and everything tested.

As discussed previously, I am re-engineering how I distribute multiple antennas to several dual channel receivers for diversity reception. All the parts have been obtained and laid out on a piece of 16″ by 36″ plywood. Let’s walk through the system.

Starting lower right, you can see the power bus. This provides a 12 VDC power supply connection, and a 5 VDC conversion. Twelve volts is needed for the AAA-1C wideband loop controllers, top right. Also, 12 V is needed to power my MW bandstop filter relays, Wellbrook loop, and Afedri receiver.

Everything else runs off five volts. To the left of the power bus is the Krida NodeMCU relay board, which is configured as a flexible controller running on my home network.

In the center is a four position coaxial relay switch. This will enable me to select either my main ham antennas, west loop array antenna and Wellbrook wideband loop to Channel B of dual channel receivers. The east loop array antenna is hard wired to Channel A.

This coaxial relay switch is under NodeMCU control.

The pair of distribution amplifiers is shown top center of my new antenna switch board layout. These are powered by 5 VDC USB cables. Providing four outputs for each Channel, these amps provide isolated signals across 100 kHz to 30 MHz.

Finally, there is a dual channel patch bay, upper left, for connecting my ANAN, RSPduo, Afedri receivers and NCC-1 phaser. To keep things simple, all signal cables are pre-assembled patch cords with SMA or BNC connectors.

Power and control wiring is done with color-coded 22 or 26 gauge wire, as well as terminal blocks for power and control signal routing.

As with my previous switch, the board will be mounted vertically on the shack wall behind the main radio desk.

More good stuff from Mr Maker!
Would be great to have friends locally for a bit of construction help hehe.
